KazLaw Team Helps Raise Over $36,000 for SHLF

KazLaw is pleased to support various community causes, and we are proud of our team, who show up rain or shine—in this case, a LOT of rain—to do our part to give back.

Our team participated in this year’s SHLF Run, organized by the Strachan Hartley Legacy Foundation, who strive to provide youth the opportunity to achieve their full potential through sports and education.

Team “Rock the KazLaw” members were among the 500 people who contributed, ran, walked, volunteered and donated this year, resulting in over $36,000 raised—the highest total yet generated at this event in its ten years so far. 100% of all proceeds raised go to charity: this year, to the Streetfront Alternative school.

Among Streetfront’s 2017 goals (through Street2Peak) is to provide a group of at-risk youth the opportunity to summit Torres del Paine National Park, in Patagonia, Chile. Streetfront was the first school in North American to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, and was awarded an Indspire “capacity” award this year for excellence in working with aboriginal youth. Only one such award is given out per year across Canada. Streetfront also has an incredibly successful marathon program, with over 250 full marathons and 150 half marathons completed to date. Over 95% of the students who participate in the marathon program have graduated high school.

Team KazLaw was well represented at the fundraiser for this great community cause, running in both 5k and 10k distances, with team members Dianna Robertson and Jannelle Mackoff both placing first in their divisions (work hard, play hard)! Fearless leader Marc Kazimirski, undaunted by the absence of his running shoes, even ran 10k in leather boots.

Through our joint efforts as a team, we were able to generate the largest single contribution from a group for the event, and we thank all of our amazing staff who showed up to help make this possible for such a great cause.
